The infamous trending section on Facebook is getting removed by the social media giant. It seems like whenever anyone takes the name of Facebook, it’s usually to drag the company over its endless social media scandals.
Mark Zuckerberg seems completely clueless about what his users need. With competition coming into the picture, Facebook drowned faster than an infant. Sure, Facebook was the biggest giant in the market when it was launched but today it has come crashing down from that position.
“Trending” Section
This section was initially launched in 2014. The purpose of the section was to provide users with all the popular or significant moments around the world. The idea was criticized as it seemed a lot similar to Twitter’s discover section.
In a survey it was also found that not many people were interacting with the feature. So, Facebook decided to get rid of the system altogether.
“Today In’”
Don’t worry if you were amongst the few people who used the trending section, as Facebook is launching a Breaking News Label that allows users to get acquainted with all the significant headlines in the world. Facebook is also testing another section ‘Today In’ which also fills similar feature to providing information to the people.
Video in Watch – Facebook also plans on launching a feature in the United States of America called ‘Facebook Watch’. This will feature live coverage of daily news going around in the USA.
Facebook the Copy Cat of All Social Media Websites
- Facebook stole trending section from Twitter.
- The story feature was stolen from Instagram.
- Later, Facebook also went and copied Snapchat’s Filters .
Now, obviously we assume that Facebook started off these popular features from these different apps to attract their audience. But sadly this backfired on the company as more and more people started criticizing the company, accusing it for its unoriginality. The said apps also participated in the criticizing chain mocking the former social media website of saving its honor.
Conclusion
It seems like Facebook is desperately trying hard to make things rights for its users. But I don’t think these amends are going in the right direction as people don’t seem buzzed about it at all. Facebook is in desperate need to come up with creative unique ideas. Since last year it seems like developers at Facebook are running away from hard work. We hope that Facebook becomes safe and original again, or it will soon die like Orkut.
